Beginning July 24, 2009, Kentucky is offering a $5,000 New Home Buyer State Tax Credit. Purchasers of new homes will be eligible for a $5,000 non-refundable tax credit on new homes that are the owner's principal residence. The qualified buyer will have to submit a complieted application for the credit on forms provided by the Kentucky Department of Revenue who is creating a webiste to explain the credit to the public. The home must close between July 24, 2009 and July 24, 2010 and the form must be submitted within seven calendar days of purchase. Purchasers are defined as anyone other than first time homebuyers.
You also still have an opportunity for a temporary $8000 tax credit for qualified first-time home buyers! This initiative is for homes purchased after Jan. 1, 2009 and before Dec. 31, 2009.
